Bowling – Worth eXPLORING!

First of all I want to tell you that I’m not a sporty guy! But once in a while I try to play games / sports that I’m not used to, just for the sake of exploring and experience. This is my second time to play bowling, the first one was during the PAMET (Philippine Association of Medical Technologist) Sports Fest in 2009. This time it’s a little bit different and no pressures at all, I’m going to play bowling not to win but just for fun! It’s bonding time for the Central United Methodist Church’s Vesper Choir!

Last April 18, members of the choir, that includes me, has agreed to play bowling for us to bond and just to unwind, for fun, and of course to give one of our member, Sandra, a send-off before she’ll leave the country to work overseas. Just a little information, the Vesper Choir sings during the creative worship service (Vesper Service) of the Central United Methodist Church which starts 5 pm every Sunday. This is where I spend my time every Sunday at 4 pm onwards. We rehearse at 4 pm, sing during the service and rehearse again after the service. Now back to the story, so we all agreed that we’re going to play on April 25, 2010 after the Vesper Service.

It’s April 25, yehey! It’s time play! After the Vesper Service, we proceeded to a big mall somewhere by the bay (you should know where that is to play bowling! We arrived there at around 7:30pm and walk our way to the bowling center. Since almost all the lanes are still full, we just reserved so that they can prioritize us, asked for their rates, and left the bowling center to look for a restaurant to for us to dine. Since all the restaurant and fast food chains are all full, our final stop, food court!

We went to the bowling center, paid our fees and off we go bowling! We took two lanes divided the group through “jack n’ poy” (can somebody translate this?). So we have the Winner’s group, that’s us, and the Loser’s group! Let the game begin. The rule of the game is just to aim for the bowling pins, take your shot but be sure your ball will roll in the center not on the left or right, or else sa kanal ang derecho ng ball mo! I’m the second player in my group, and my first shot is a little bit embarrassing, waaahhhh my ball just took one pin with it! As a paconsuelo my group mates told me, “it’s better than nothing.” I took my second shot off to the 10^th round and my final score is 71! Not even a passing grade in academics haha… I really want the game it’s relaxing and it was fun! But it seems that the game doesn’t like me. I really don’t mind about my score the important thing is that I enjoyed the game and the time spent to bond with my co-choir members. It was fun, yes, but after the fun here comes the pain… bowling gave me 3 days of muscle pain in my right shoulder which also gave me a hard time particularly when drawing a blood sample from my patient. Bowling – a nice game to explore.
